Vesakh

Vesak commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment, and Death of Gautama the Buddha. It is the most important Buddhist festival and occurs on the full moon day of May. This year Vesak will be celebrated at Germany’s historic and oldest Buddhist Temple, Das Buddhistische Haus, on Sunday April 29th, 2018 (Buddhist Era 2562) in the most fitting manner as undertaken by the Organising Committee.

Members of the public are kindly invited to take part in these celebrations comprising primarily Dana, Sila, Bhavana activities conducted in commemoration of the Buddha’s universal message of peace and non – violence towards all living beings.

09:00 - 09:30am  Reciting of eight Precepts to observe Sil and Buddha Puja

09:30 - 10:45am  Meditation led by Ven. Mahagama Suwineetha Thero,
                             residing monk at Buddhistisches Haus Frohnau


10:45 - 12:00pm  Buddha Puja, Sanga-Dana, lunch for guests

11:30 - 12:00am  Offering of Dana to the Sangha

12:00 - 13:15pm  Period of Rest (Community lunch)

13:15 - 14:30pm  Dhammatalk by Ven. Thalpavila Kusalagnana Thero M.A.,
                             lecturer at Hamburg University, Abbot of
                             Vajirarama Buddhist-Vihara Hamburg, Pandit,Tripitakacharya         (Teacher of the Pali Canon), Postgraduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies


14:30 - 15:00pm  Afternoon Gilanpasa (Tea)
